Clinging Memories

By Eric Lungai.

Teach me again
How to sleep facing the wall,
How to put on again,
Burdening pajamas at night;
And waking up clutching tight to a pillow,
As if that is the lone right.

Come back and coach me,
How to be alone;
How to eat at the cold hearth,
And bathe in the murk,
How to cope with your wraith;
Missing the tepid kisses and embrace

These clinging memories
Come in leaps and bounds
And totally truss theories
Of that florid fond past.

Oh, my long lost love,
Why did we instigate
This odious journey that mired;
An expedition only planned
Then abandoned by the harbor?

Come hastily, and expunge
These clinging memories
That haunts my love life
And abhors any slight chance
Of another absolute life
